Who is Lori Long?

A lifelong Educator, Mother, and Warrior to inspire, empower and equip all learners!
​I am an experienced educator. I’ve been a teacher, an administrator, and instructional coach for teachers focusing on PBS Rt:I and understanding how to use testing data to drive instruction.

​My dedication to Carmel Clay Schools is as a parent and community member! We must work together to ensure every child is safe, ready to learn, and has a plethora of physical, emotional, and academic resources at their disposal everyday. A collaboration where our entire community comes together to protect our students to ensure daily that all staff is committed to doing what is right for our students, parents, staff, and the Carmel Clay School community is my goal.

​My first goal is that every student, no matter what school they attend,  students will feel safe, valued, and understand that they will be held to high expectations of academic excellence and are expected to be dedicated to being good students and citizens as they work together and grow together every day. Teachers, parents and staff will work in collaboration to provide engaging and meaningful academic growth and opportunities for all learners!

​My second goal is in every one of our schools, students, parents, teachers, administrators, support staff, friends, and families are all moving towards the same goal of success for all students, support and ongoing professional development for staff, and an open door policy of collaboration between staff and parents!

My third goal is that Carmel Clay Schools embrace a growth mindset where all students achieve, are provided whatever support needed to meet and exceed curriculum metrics and in every classroom an environment to thrive!

Daily, as teachers and students attend our schools, I pray for safety, passion for learning, and inspiration as they pursue their individual and collective academic goals! It is our job to come together to ensure every student finds that there is a deep support system for them so they may have pride in themselves, their families, their community, and our nation.

I stand behind and support parents as a parent, I stand behind and support teachers as a lifelong educator, I stand behind and support administrators as a former administrator.

We must be advocates and protect our students! We must provide safety and excellence in all we do from the time the bell rings in the morning through every after school sport and activity. Parents must know, students must know, and our community must know that our students are safe and we are passionately committed to providing the highest level of academic excellence at whatever level our students need.

​One size does not fit all we must ensure our students are provided every resource based on their individual needs so that they may be successful from kindergarten through graduation and beyond.
I grew up an Army Brat, my father was a West Pointer Class of 71', and then had a tremendous career in the Military. I am a fiercely proud American and supporter of our veterans and military. 

Growing up all over this nation and having been blessed with traveling to Europe, being on missions trips in the US as well as to the Dominican Republic and Cayman Islands, and being surrounded by everywhere I lived with incredible diversity and many different cultures always represented in classrooms as I grew up. I want all students in whose lives I have an impact to see the world as I do: A beautiful mixture of so many different cultures, religions and nationalities. 

I believe in traditional values and protecting our students from being exposed to things that are not age appropriate nor even necessary. With every cell in my body, I  believe all students can and will learn if provided with the appropriate environment, supports, safety, and a focus not only on their academic success, but their mental health and wellbeing. 

From my time in the classroom, I am deeply passionate about teacher excellence and I honor and hold all educators to a significant standard of excellence. We are impacting out students in all we do in the classroom. They emulate the teachers whom they love and respect. It is a profession of high regard and incredible responsibility.

I will work diligently to unite students, teachers, parents and all faculty to insure everyone feels heard, the students are fully supported to receive the highest level of excellence on their educational journey, and ensure they are lead to tremendous success on their specific path.
